Microair Avionics is seeking a skilled Avionics/Electronics Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting avionics products and components for aircraft. Microair Avionics has for over 25 years been a leading manufacturer of radios and transponders for sports, general and unmanned aviation. Its sister company, Intelligent Transport Systems, designs and manufactures specialist environmental monitoring equipment used extensively across Queensland for road river crossing flood monitoring. 

Position: Electronics Technician

Location: Banyo, QLD

Employment Type: Full-time

 

Responsibilities:
  • Assemble avionics systems and components according to engineering specifications and quality standards. 
  • Conduct functional tests on assembled avionics systems to ensure performance meets specifications.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on Microair’s product and component lines to ensure they remain in optimal condition.
  • Maintain detailed records of all work performed on avionics systems and components, including assembly, testing, and repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with engineers, junior technicians and assemblers to provide feedback on product design and functionality. Assist in the development of new products and improvements to existing products.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to their implementation.
  • Stay informed about new technologies, materials, and processes related to avionics assembly.
Skills and Experience:
  • Experience soldering to IPC standards.
  • Able to conduct prototype SMT PCB assembly, fault finding and rework.
  • Capable of simple design tasks such as small circuits and test jigs.
  • Able to use workshop equipment (hand and power tools) for hardware building / modifications.
  • Previous experience in avionics assembly or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret assembly instructions and diagrams.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Safety-conscious attitude.
